The original Grand Bell was used since SITC opened in 1922 until 1970. The Grand Bell had been hammered using a hammer to produce a loud buzzing sound to indicate the time for student activities such as gardening, eating, start of class and so on. In 1970 the bell made from the rail was lost and replaced with an electric bell. In order to revive the tradition, this Grand Bell replica was made by UPSI in conjunction with the launching of “Sirih Pulang Ke Gagang” program on October 19, 2002.
